VINTAGE

Tasting Note

Notes of citrus fruits, elderberries, and a hint of lychee appear on the nose. On the palate, the wine presents with elegant minerality, vibrant freshness, and fine fruit aromas of yellow stone fruits, Williams pear, and a touch of fully ripe mandarins. Known for elegant, complex Rieslings, the Badstube produces wines of clarity, freshness, and aromatic finesse, often with notes of white peach, citrus, and crushed stone.

Food Pairing

A brilliantly fine-structured wine that pairs with almost all occasions and dishes – whether light meals, fish, risotto, or simply spicy salads. A perfect wine for lunch, as a prelude to a great evening with friends, or as a stylish end to a successful day.

Winemaking and Aging

The grapes were hand-picked and carefully selected in the different areas of the vineyard. They were only lightly crushed and then macerated for 14 hours before being gently pressed. The wine was fermented without the addition of cultured yeasts or enzymes over a period of 10 months. After fermentation, it matured on the lees for several more months to gain additional stability and complexity.

Growing Region and Climate

The Bernkasteler Badstube is one of the most renowned steep slopes of the Mosel and lies above Bernkastel-Kues, with a south to southwest orientation, allowing the vines to benefit from the gentle light of the late afternoon sun. The steep, terraced slopes consist of Devonian slate, which stores heat and radiates it back to the vines. This promotes slow, even ripening and gives the wines a distinct minerality. The unique microclimate of the vineyard, shaped by the breezes of the Mosel, preserves freshness and acidity and gives the wines a crystalline structure and remarkable aging potential. As a historically significant site, the Badstube embodies the typical Mosel harmony of fine fruit, slate-driven minerality, and precise elegance.
