Tasting Notes
A beautiful salmon pink, almost like a rosé from Provence. On the nose, it is delicate and fragrant, with typical Pinot Noir aromas: rose petals, lots of pink grapefruit, and a hint of sweet woodruff, which creates a very refined impression. On the palate, it is intense and extremely fresh, with a certain spiciness from the lively acidity, accompanied by a slight salinity. This light mineral bite with subtle bitterness gives the wine that certain something. An extremely easy-drinking, refreshing wine – light-footed and lively on the tongue with delicate red fruit, warm citrus notes, and playful elegance.
Food Pairing
A wonderful, pleasant companion – both solo on the terrace with friends and as an excellent complement to light dishes such as steamed fish, poultry, or salads.
Winemaking
The grapes were selectively harvested and gently pressed in containers directly in the vineyard to ensure a longer ripening period. The whole bunch pressing lasted about three hours. The wine was fermented for several months in large wooden barrels without the addition of yeasts or enzymes and bottled in late spring.
Viticulture and Climate
Viticulture on the Moselle is characterized by its unique landscape. The character of the growing regions is determined by the special interplay of geology, topography, and microclimate. The grapes for this wine were grown in the Kueser Kardinalsberg vineyard. This vineyard is an excellent site with deep, stony, weathered loam soil and a south-southwest orientation. The wines from Bernkasteler Schlossberg are characterized by a minerality typical of the Moselle, pronounced fruit aromas, and a fine interplay.
