Tasting Notes
Elegant and finely aromatic bouquet. Balanced and pleasing with juicy and quite ripe fruit on the palate, precise and fine spice, almost salty in character. Silky texture. An excellent food companion with impressive finesse.
Food Recommendation
A wonderful, pleasant companion, whether enjoyed as a soloist on the terrace with friends, or as an excellent food pairing with light dishes such as steamed fish, poultry, or salads.
Processing and Aging
The grapes were selectively harvested and very gently crushed in tubs in the vineyard to allow for a longer maceration period. Whole cluster pressing took place for about 3 hours. The wine was fermented without any added yeasts or enzymes in a large wooden barrel for several months and bottled in late spring.
Growing Region and Climate
Viticulture in the Mosel region is characterized by its unique landscape. The character of the growing areas is shaped by the special geological, topographical, and microclimatic interplay. The grapes for this wine were grown in the Bernkasteler Schlossberg vineyard. This vineyard is an excellent site with deep, stony clay-weathered soil, facing south-southwest. The wines from the Bernkasteler Schlossberg possess a Mosel-typical minerality, pronounced fruit aromas, and a delicate play.
